Stuart Tibaweswa

Stuart is a Kampala-based Ugandan documentary photographer. His work often focuses on marginalized communities, their relationship to wider society and seeks to contribute towards correcting misrepresented narratives. Stuart’s interest in documentary storytelling springs from the desire to question himself about social, identity, and climate change issues around his community and address them through a series of photographs.

He was nominated for the 2018 Young Achievers Awards in the Film and Photography category, runner-up in the “Middle Income in Uganda” photography contest by Goethe-Zentrum, Kampala in 2019, and won 1st place in the “People Category” of the Uganda Press Photo Awards 2021.

His latest long-term project seeks to document how climate injustices continue to affect vulnerable communities like women and children.
