Vivian Chime
Vivian is the Head of TheCable’s Climate Change Desk, where she leads a team of reporters who produce outstanding news stories, explainers, analyses, fact checks and features on climate change issues. Prior to this position, she pioneered the climate desk in 2021, developed the beat and expanded TheCable’s climate coverage to global climate conferences and debates, while also travelling across Nigeria to deliver high-quality stories highlighting extreme weather events, community-driven climate initiatives, and analysing climate change policies.
Besides reporting from Nigeria, Vivan has covered international climate conferences including COP27 in Egypt, COP28 in Dubai and the Africa Climate Summit in Nairobi, Kenya. In 2023, in a short-term consultancy, she served as Africa Journalism Manager at Climate Tracker, where she had previously been a two-time fellow – first as a global media mentorship fellow and later as a COP27 climate justice fellow.
She is also a member of the Reuters Institute Oxford Climate Journalism Network. Her works have received awards including the International Center for Journalists Global Health Crisis Reporting Award in 2021, Climate Tracker’s Best Climate Justice Story Award in 2022 and TheCable’s Journalist of the Year award, 2022.
