OCRI Story Lab and Climate Change Media Workshop in Anglophone Africa
The story-lab workshop of the Open Climate Reporting Initiative project of the Centre for Investigative Journalism will be hosted in Lagos, Nigeria, by the Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID). The workshop will feature 15 investigative journalists from Nigeria, Ghana, and the Gambia.
Duration: 4 days
This workshop aims to enhance the capacity of media professionals to report on cross-border climate change and environmental issues, hold governments accountable, raise public awareness, promote sustainable practices, and foster public engagement. Additionally, it will set an agenda for climate change mitigation and adaptation across West Africa.

Vivian Chime
Vivian is the Head of TheCable’s Climate Change Desk, where she leads a team of reporters who produce outstanding news stories, explainers, analyses, fact checks and features on climate change issues.
Taiwo Adebayo
Taiwo Adebayo is an award-winning journalist, currently covering business and climate change in Africa for the global news agency, The Associated Press (AP). Among his recent accountability enterprise stories on climate issues are the staggering land deals for carbon offsets involving an Emirati company in Africa and the deforestation in the supply chains of the global chocolate industry.
Dr Tobi Oluwatola
Dr Tobi Oluwatola is an experienced executive in the energy sector with over 16 years of expertise. He is the Chief Executive of TAO Energy. Previously, he was the Executive Director of the Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development, an African media innovation think tank.
Temitayo Akinyemi
Temitayo Akinyemi (formerly Muhammed Akinyemi) is a journalist, creative writer, and editor known for utilising innovative tools like satellite imagery and interactive data in storytelling. A 2019 African Liberty Writing Fellow and Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) West African Journalist of the Year (2023), he specialises in managing media products to amplify impactful narratives.
Ibilolia Akahome
Ibilolia Akahome is a Business Development Manager and data professional with over three years of experience training enthusiasts in data-driven decision-making and storytelling. At Dataphyte Limited, she combines her expertise in business strategy and data analytics to empower organisations, journalists, government agencies and individuals to leverage data for impactful stories and informed decisions.
Mojeed Alabi
Mojeed is an experienced reporter with a demonstrated history of excellent delivery skilled in investigative reporting, news sourcing, and building brands. He is a media and communication professional with a BA in English focused in English Language from Obafemi Awolowo University and Masters in Diplomacy and Strategic Studies (MDSS) from the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
Akintunde Babatunde
Akintunde Babatunde is a Programme Manager with extensive experience in international development, public policy, civic technology, climate change, and media innovation. He is the Director of Programs at the Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID) and the OCRI regional coordinator for Anglophone Africa.
