Financial OSINT. Deep Diving.

Open-Source Intelligence (frequently referred to as OSINT) has become crucial to many investigators’ ability to cross-examine allegations and reports of serious financial crimes.

This practical course will take you through real-life cases to teach you the core techniques to conduct deep-dive investigations to uncover opaque global company structures used to facilitate money laundering, corruption, bribery, tax fraud schemes, and more.

This course is part of the #CIJSummer Investigative Journalism Conference 2021.

Date: Thursday, 8 July 2021
Time: 10:00 till 11:30 (BST London, UK time).
Group size: max 40 people.
Class duration: 1hr 30min x 1 times a day x 1 day
Level of participation: high, with regular Q&A sections

This session will focus on the following important areas of financial OSINT research:

  • Understanding and profiling UK shell company factory structures
  • Local to Global approach to identifying international connections
  • Linking shell company structures to websites and fintech

OSINT is an ever evolving field – especially in the fast-developing world of digital finance, so up-to-date skills are essential. If you are a beginner, this course will help you get started in the field, for those who already practice some of the skills, the training will provide guidance on using the best and most current techniques available.

  • Camera and audio
