Dilrukshi Handunnetti

Dilrukshi Handunnetti is an award-winning Sri Lankan investigative journalist and editor. She is the co-founder and director of the Center for Investigative Reporting (CIR) in Colombo and currently serves as Sri Lanka editor for Mongabay. Her distinguished career includes senior editorial positions at several publications including The Sunday Leader and Sunday Observer.

Her investigative work focuses on civilian perspectives of conflict, governance, corruption, environment, and gender issues. Notable recognitions include the D.B. Dhanapala Journalist of the Year Award, the 2022 East West Center’s Journalist of Courage and Impact Award, and the Vital Voices Fellowship. Her journalistic work has appeared in major international outlets including The Guardian, Al Jazeera, and The New York Times. She is also presently a columnist with the New Indian Express.

OCRI Story Lab and Climate Investigations Workshop in South Asia

DataLEADS, OCRI's South Asian partner, is conducting a four-day intensive training and story-lab workshop for journalists from five South Asian countries. Participants will learn concepts, tools, and techniques to develop and refine their climate investigation story proposals.
