Data-driven reporting on Green Energy in Africa

An introductory online training module that will equip journalists from Southern African countries on how to use some environmental and climate reporting tools and techniques for better reportage of related issues.

PowerTracker Module 2: Investigating green energy initiatives

Following an introductory module held 9 June 2022, this second module focuses on the training and upskilling of select journalists in climate change science, renewable energy statistics, financial sleuthing, data sourcing and analysis towards the execution of data-driven investigative stories on green energy in Southern Africa.

Following a call for pitches, 10 journalists will be taken through an in-depth course with modules such as introduction to environment crime and environmental law, Introduction to climate change, investigative journalism and the environment and the cause-effect relationship: Does climate change lead to environmental crime or vice versa?

PowerTracker Module 3: Storytelling with data

Following a second module held 28 July 2022, this third module is a practical, two-hour session on sourcing, cleaning, formatting and analysing data, using data that the journalists have already started collecting towards the execution of data-driven investigative stories on green energy in Southern Africa.
