CIJ partners Oxpeckers on OCRI
The Oxpeckers Investigative Environmental Journalism is partnering the Centre for Investigative Journalism (CIJ) in implementing PowerTracker, a new programme that will collate data on renewable energy projects in Africa being funded by corporations, governments and other parties. The partnership is part of activities earmarked for the year one delivery phase of Open Climate Reporting Initiative (OCRI).
The planned activities for the implementation of PowerTracker in the Anglophone Africa Region over nine months include: training for investigative journalists, tracking of green energy projects (source, collate, aggregate, analyse and make data public that tracks information on the ambitions of green energy projects, their status, costs, who is funding them, their carbon footprint and mitigation value), publication of investigative stories, media campaign and community engagement.
