Data Journalism: ‘Scraping’ Data Without the Coding
Getting access to the data you want for a story, when it doesn’t arrive already in a handy spreadsheet, can be a challenge. It can feel like you might have to learn a load of coding skills just to get started.
But there may be ways to access data held in webpages and APIs (Application Programming Interface) without becoming an expert in Python and R. This session will look at tips and techniques for getting the data you want using tools like Google Sheets, Excel and OpenRefine.
If you DO want to learn R – please attend:
Data Journalism. Investigating Data with R 1-3. Hands-On. Thu 4 July.
