Birame Faye

Birame Faye is currently the regional media coordinator at the Panos West Africa Institute (IPAO), a regional media development NGO.
As an investigative journalist, he trains and mentors journalists in several West African Countries, developing many tools and resources on journalism. A former senior reporter at the Senegalese Journal Le Quotidien, from 2008 to 2016, Birame was trained in data journalism in 2011 at the Berlin International Journalism Centre. One of the pioneers of Fact-Checking in French-speaking Africa, he is also an environment specialist and worked as the Focal Point of the research project “African Monsoon Multidisciplinary Analysis “2050 (AMMA-2050)” which brought together 16 African and European think-tanks led by the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology of Great Britain. He is also a member of Environmental Investigative Forum (EIF).

Train the Trainer on Environmental Data Journalism

A specialised course designed for Open Climate Reporting Initiative (OCRI) trainers who will train journalists in Senegal, Niger and Côte d'Ivoire, working with mainstream media (television, radio, print and online press) in partnership with Institut Panos Afrique de l’Ouest.
