Environmental Data Journalism Training in Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire and Niger
OCRI’s partner Institut Panos Afrique de l’Ouest is delivering four-day trainings across 3 countries namely Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire and Niger on a needed skill in Francophone Africa: environmental data journalism. The schedule is as follows:
- Senegal: Wednesday 10 to Saturday 13 August
- Côte d’Ivoire: Wednesday 17 to Saturday 20 August
- Niger: Monday 22 to Thursday 25 August
The reporters will be trained by a variety of experienced trainers, including environmental specialists, a trainer on environmental data journalism assisted by two other trainers in each country on investigative journalism, whose capacities have been recently built in data journalism.
The reporters will improve their theoretical knowledge of the climate change issues in West Africa and the stake in their own country, and build their capacity in practical environmental journalism as well as data journalism.
Following the training, the beneficiaries will have the opportunity to pitch stories related to the training theme. The best pitches will receive grants and also editorial support from Panos and the trainers.
