Investigating MI5

Earlier this year the journalist Daniel De Simone published a long-form investigation into the activities of a rogue, abusive MI5 agent, the end result of a months-long tussle between the BBC and the British government which ended with his employer being taken to court. Under Chatham House rules, De Simone tells us what he can of the case – how to investigate the work of the security services, what it is like when you become the lead witness in a court case in which your investigation ends up under intimidating state scrutiny, and the continuing peril of state censorship in contemporary Britain.

NB! Chatham House rules apply.
