Keynote: Post Office Horizon Scandal

We are delighted to welcome Rebecca Thomson, who broke the Post Office scandal while working as a reporter at Computer Weekly in 2009, and Tom Witherow, who did extensive coverage of this story when he was business editor of the Daily Mail, and Richard Brooks from Private Eye, who covered this scandal for the magazine as our keynote speakers at #CIJSummer Conference 2024.

The talk will be hosted by Rosamund Urwin – the Media Editor at the Sunday Times.

More journalists who investigated one of the biggest examples of miscarriages of justice in the UK history will be joining them on 4 July: Breaking Horizon: The Post Office Scandal.

Tom Witherow

Tom Witherow is an award-winning special projects reporter with The Times in London, who made his name investigating Britain’s gambling industry and the Post Office IT scandal. He has previously done stints covering politics in Westminster, and as a business correspondent.

Richard Brooks

Richard Brooks is an investigative journalist for Private Eye magazine. He covers financial and political scandals and has written two books: Beancounters and The Great Tax Robbery.

Rosamund Urwin

Rosamund Urwin is the media editor at The Sunday Times. She previously wrote about Brexit for the paper and has broken stories including the Yellowhammer leak of papers about a no-deal Brexit and the Martin Bashir scandal at the BBC.
