Meera Jatav

Meera Jatav is a feminist-journalist based in Bundelkhand, Uttar Pradesh, India.

She is the co-founder of the award-winning, grassroots feminist media organisation Khabar Lahariya and served as its Chief Editor from 2005 to 2019. In 2020, Meera co-founded an intersectional feminist research collective called Chitrakoot Collective in Uttar Pradesh. In 2021, Meera became one of the eight recipients of the Navayana Dalit History Fellowship; as part of this she is writing an intersectional autobiography of feminist movements in Uttar Pradesh called ‘Hamari Lahariya’ (‘The Waves We Made’ in English), which will be published next year.

Meera Jatav, a journalist based in Uttar Pradesh in India comes to London and the CIJ to deliver the annual Gavin MacFadyen memorial lecture. The co-founder of the award-winning, grassroots feminist media organisation Khabar Lahariya, Jatav has won a reputation for her courageous investigations into gender-based violence and caste in India.
