Dominic Gates
Dominic Gates has been the Seattle Times aerospace reporter since 2003. Over the years, Gates has broken numerous news stories on Boeing and the broader aviation industry, focused in particular on the company leadership’s strained relations with its employees in the Puget Sound region where Boeing was founded. His investigation of the two deadly 737 MAX crashes won the 2020 Pulitzer Prize.

In 2019, after a series of fatal crashes involving Boeing’s 737 MAX model, planes were grounded around the world. Accusations of mismanagement, of a terminal decline in standards at factories, and of cover-ups have come in the wake of lawsuits and government investigations which continue today.
