OCRI Story Lab and Climate Investigations Workshop in Latin America

OCRI partner in Latin America, CONNECTAS, is hosting a four-day on-site training story-lab workshop in which journalistic concepts, tools, and techniques will be offered to develop investigations of climate change and its impacts for selected journalists.

Duration: 4 days

Through a theoretical and practical methodology, the selected journalists will learn how to develop in-depth content with the advice of editors and journalists who are experts in environmental issues. The best projects will have the opportunity to receive funding and editorial support for their implementation and dissemination.

The workshop with is the region contextualized version of CIJ’s new Climate Investigations Course (CIC) is divided into four modules, in which trainers will share knowledge in climate science and investigative reporting, how to investigate climate finances, climate investigations with data and ECOSINT – Digital tools and methodologies for climate research.

Claudia Báez

Claudia is the co-founder and managing director of Cuestión Pública. She has led projects that have won the King of Spain, Sigma Awards, SIP, WAN-IFRA Latam and TRACE for Investigative Reporting, among others.

Grisha Vera

Member of the Editorial Board of CONNECTAS and its Hub, Grisha was the coordinator and reporter for the investigative team of El Pitazo de Venezuela. Apart from training on how to cover climate finance and environmental crimes in the Amazon for Planeta CONNECTAS, Grisha has also conducted investigations on monitoring public resources and violating children's rights.

David Tarazona

Colombian investigative journalist since 2012, David is co-founder and co-director of Cuestión Pública. He was a former editor at Mongabay LATAM, where he participated in environmental investigations and the award-winning #Narcofiles.

Maximiliano Manzoni

Maximiliano is an Uruguayan journalist specialising in climate change and a member of #CONNECTASHub. He is a Gabo Prize winner and an alumnus of the Oxford Climate Journalism Network. He investigates climate disinformation in Latin America for Periodistas por el Planeta and Climate Tracker.

Tais Gadea Lara

Tais Gadea Lara is a climate journalist from Argentina. She has been covering the climate negotiations and international politics since 2014. She has just completed the Climate Explorers' Program at the Constructive Institute (Denmark), with the goal of helping the media improve climate reporting.
