Data and digital tools for reporting on climate change

As part of the OCRI initiative the CIJ and Abraji are hosting a workshop on data and digital tools for reporting on climate change at the 18th edition of the International Congress of Investigative Journalism. The event, the one of the largest gathering of journalists in Brazil and one of the most important in Latin America will occur between June 29 and July 2, in a hybrid manner, at ESPM in São Paulo.

Class duration on 30/06/2023: 1.5hrs x 2 sessions

Participants will learn how to report greenhouse gas data and search for information on climate change at the municipal, state and national levels and by biome. In addition, they will be introduced to the SEEG (System for Estimation of Emissions and Removals of Greenhouse Gases – an initiative of the Climate Observatory).

The instructors will also show international tools for carbon counting, highlight how to identify what used to be forest and have become agriculture and cattle-raising, and explain how to research and analyse data on the temperature and elevation of the oceans.

To participate in both sessions and the Conference, registration is required on the website.
