IPYS and CIJ partner to train up to 30 journalists in LATAM

The CIJ and Instituto Prensa y Sociedad (IPYS) have teamed up to deliver training on climate change reporting for up to 30 journalists in Latin America (except Brazil).

There will be two types of training: First, we are planning to convene, develop and support a new edition of IPYS’ Advanced Course on Investigative Journalism (CAPI 2022), now focused on environmental reporting. This is a highly qualified programme that, for three days, will put 10 journalists with proven investigative experience in contact with topics that are usually difficult for journalism to address. This will take place during the Latin American Conference of Investigative Journalism (COLPIN), to be held this year from the 9th to the 12th of November in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Following the course, there will be some support and funding of stories that will be published to bring forward climate change issues in the region.

Second, also during the Latin American Conference on Investigative Journalism, CIJ and IPYS will organise a practical workshop for 20 journalists attending the conference. The objective is to provide tools and techniques to improve coverage of climate change issues.
