Investigating climate change: First OCRI training for journalists in Francophone Africa held

CIJ’s partner and West-Africa-based investigative journalism network CENOZO, organised its first climate change reporting training on June 23 and 24, under the Open Climate Reporting Initiative (OCRI) project.

This two-day online training brought together twelve journalists from four countries – Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, and Mali, and stands as the first part of a two-round training planned by CENOZO.

The participants of this training, who were selected after an open call and a selection process, will also meet in an in-person workshop to be held from 25 to 29 July 2022, in Abidjan. The participants will later benefit from grants and coaching in order to produce cross-border investigative stories.

CENOZO is one of the four OCRI regional partners in Francophone Africa implementing a programme that is aimed at strengthening media and civil society organizations’ capacity to report climate change. The online training is the very first OCRI activity in Francophone Africa.
