Knock, Knock: When the FBI Comes for Your Sources
In January 2026 FBI agents raided the home of Washington Post reporter Hannah Natanson and seized her phones, laptops and other devices, the first time the US government has raided a journalist’s home in a national security leak investigation. On the heels of winning a Pulitzer Prize, Natanson joins Harlo Holmes, Chief Security Programs Officer at Freedom of the Press Foundation, to talk about what happened, how to protect sources when your devices are in government hands, and how we can adapt our security practices when the threat comes from official actors.
