Amade Abubacar

Amade Abubacar is a Mozambican journalist, researcher, trainer and human rights activist, based in Pemba. He has worked in radio, online and print media since 2008, and held the position of editor-in-chief at Macomia Nacedje radio. While reporting on the 2018 terrorist attacks in Cabo Delgado, he was detained by Mozambique Defence Armed Forces and is still waiting to hear whether or not he will go to trial. His work focuses on health, environment, climate change and the use of information and communication technologies. Amade has completed several journalism courses.
