Summer School 2013

The 2013 summer school focused on High Risk Investigations: taking on greedy corporations, secretive governments, cheats, criminals and predatory celebrities. You can see photos from the Summer School on the CIJ Facebook page

MEDIA COVERAGE: The BBC interviewed Seymour Hersh about the Snowden revelations that is available to listen to: BBC World Service Radio’s Weekend programme, Seymour Hersh followed by a discussion with the Spanish writer and journalist based in Madrid Miguel Anxo-Murado and Claire Bolderson, a British author and blogger based in London. The interviewer/presenter is Paul Henley.

They also interviewed Ioan Grillo about his investigation into Mexican drug cartels: BBC World Service Radio's Weekend programme Ioan Grillo, with Ioan is Silio Boccanera, London correspondent for Brazilian news channel, GloboNews. Again, presenter/interviewer is Paul Henley.

It also featured a number of sessions internet security and surveillance - with practical advice for journalists and everyone needing electronic protection.

Another new strand this year was web documentaries and how they can help investigative journalists, especially those working with data, present their projects on the web in an interesting and interactive way. For more information on this strand, read Why Web Documentaries?
