The Whistler International Launch

    Tuesday 18 February 2014
    Room A109, City University London

Given the massive interest and support whistleblowers are receiving, the Whistler Fellowship Alliance, an umbrella group of organiations who provide support for whistleblower has announced its international launch at 6pm Tuesday 18 February, at City University, London.

The Whistler Fellowship Alliance brings together Compassion in Care, Cure the NHS, Courage Foundation and the Centre for Investigative Journalism (CIJ) in an international alliance to protect all whistleblowers.

The Whistler Fellowship Alliance was formed by Eileen Chubb, director of Compassion in Care and Gavin MacFadyen director of the CIJ, with the aim of providing emotional and legal assistance to those who have or are considering righting a wrong.

Eileen, who is one of the Bupa Seven care assistants who blew the whistle on elderly patient abuse, explained why she thought the alliance so important:

“With the launch of the Whistler Fellowship Alliance, at last the UK will have an organisation that truly champions whitsleblowers.

“A force for good. An army of the brave and honest that any governments and the powerful ignore at their peril.”

Eileen Chubb and Gavin MacFadyen will be joined by a group of high-profile whistleblowers from the US who are flying in to support the cause and will be available to take questions at the launch.

Among them will be Ray McGovern, a former CIA senior analyst, Thomas Drake, a senior former NSA officer, Jesselyn Radack, a former US Department of Justice ethics advisor, Elizabeth Murray a former Deputy National Intelligence Officer, and Ann Wright one of three State Department officials to publicly resign in direct protest of the March 2003 invasion of Iraq.

Also in attendance will be Annie Machon, the director of the newly formed Courage Foundation.

We are inviting members of the press to attend this event, which will take place in Room A109, City University London on Tuesday 18 February at 6pm.
