CIJ Talk: Intro to Programming

    Tuesday 2 October 2012
Room AG35, College Building, 280 St John Street, City University London, EC1V 4PB

    This event is full.

Always been curious about programming, but not sure if you'll be suited to it? Wondering what development is like, but never dipped your toe in the water? Or, are you taking your first steps, and in need of a helping hand? This session, with Jonathan Richards, is designed for the beginner programmer. It will assume no programming knowledge. It's divided into thee sections: 'What is a process?', 'An introduction to types', and 'My first loop'. The aim, by the end, is to give you a sense of just how powerful a program can be when you're in control of it - a bit like when the stabilisers come off the bike for the first time. The session will be fully 'hands-on', with students having a chance to write code on their machine that they will see 'run' in front of the whole class.

Tue 2 October at 6.30pm, City University London
