Data Journalism for Students

    This four-hour course for students gives an overview of Excel, using data sets to find stories and creating simple data visualisations.

    Course Outline

    From sources for data sets, to importing, cleaning, sorting and filtering the data, you’ll be shown how to look for stories and interrogate your data.

    Students will also get an idea of how you can use the Freedom of Information Act to get data sets and how Google Fusion can help you tell your story.

    This course is taught by Juliet Ferguson who is a former-Panorama journalist and is now working at the Centre for Investigative Journalism
