Less Reported Journalists' Deaths

    The Committee to Protect Journalists has noted the deaths and injuries of journalists which have not received the publicity afforded to those from the mainstream media.

    Anatoly Klyan, 68, cameraman for the Russian state-owned broadcaster Pervy Kanal (Channel One), died at a local hospital from bullet wounds in his abdomen, local and international press reported. Channel One said Klyan was wounded when the bus in which he was traveling came under fire.

    Anton Voloshin 26, sound engineer for the Russian state-owned broadcaster VGTRK, died in a mortar attack near the village of Metallist, outside the eastern city of Lugansk, Russian and international media reported. An Italian photographer, Andrea Rocchelli, and his Russian assistant, Andrei Mironov, were killed by mortar fire near Slavyansk at the end of May.

    In the eastern city of Mariupol, Fyodor Zavaleykov, a freelance cameraman working for the Kremlin-sponsored TV channel Russia Today, was shot in the stomach.
