CIJ Board Appoint New Chair

    The Board of Trustees of the CIJ are thrilled to announce Isabel Hilton, the distinguished journalist, writer, broadcaster and sinologist, as our new Chair with immediate effect. 
    Based in London, Isabel has in the course of her career reported from China, South Asia, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and Europe, written and presented several documentaries for BBC radio and television, and has been a writer and editor for The Sunday Times, the Independent and the Guardian. She’s now the founder and CEO of, an innovative, fully bilingual Chinese English website devoted to building a shared approach on climate change and environmental issues with China.
    Dr. Caroline Nevejan, the previous CIJ chair, stepped down to concentrate her efforts on her new job as Chief Science Officer in the City of Amsterdam. The Board is enormously grateful for Caroline’s work steering the CIJ, and we wish her every success in her new job.
