Call for Contributions: Home Office Consultation on RIPA

    The Home Office is calling for public submissions on the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (RIPA) and the relevant Codes of Practice.

    The Act has caused great concern in a number of professions, not least among journalists who wish to protect their sources. 'There are rarely opportunities to put the defense of a Free Press, Free Speech and source protection before a government. This is one of those rare times when you can actually be heard, albeit briefly,' said CIJ Director Gavin MacFadyen.

    The deadline for submissions to the consultation is 20 March 2015. The CIJ will be making a submission and we encourage others to send us contributions to this, and make their own submissions.
