In the acute crisis throughout the Broadcasting industry, the events surrounding the crash of Granada Television are more relevant today than anyone would have believed only a few years ago. The story of Granada provides a piercing insight into the price paid then - and again now.
Ray Fitzwalter, executive producer of World in Action and author of The Dream that Died - the rise and fall of ITV - talks about his forthcoming book. He gives a unique insider account of the rise and fall of ITV, as seen through the extraordinary events in the destruction of Granada Television, and the ripple effect on the standard of broadcasting we see on our screens today.

Every national, regional and major local newspaper in the United States employs a computer-assisted reporting specialist. We are years behind in the UK, but you could be years ahead.
Join our computer-assisted reporting training day and develop the skills you need to use information from publically available databases - from Government, local authorities, regulatory bodies - or from information supplied as a result of your own Freedom of Information Act request.
No special computer skills are required for the course although familiarity with a computer and Windows software is assumed. The emphasis on this one-day course will be learning to use Excel.
The trainers are Heather Brooke, author Your Right to Know, and Elena Egewhary.
